This article “When Johnny Takes the Test” was published in the September 1995 issue of our The Christian Conscience magazine. It was co-authored by Anita Hoge, Melanie Fields and Sarah Leslie who were moms who were researching the rise of a new type of test being used on students in education. Referred to as “assessments” they did not evaluate academic knowledge, but rather a child’s feelings, opinions, beliefs and attitudes — assigning a State-prescribed “correct” answer when scoring. We published thousands of extra copies of this article and distributed them all over the country to alert parents.
