Peter Preached The OT Doctrine Of Christ's Second Coming

The apostles taught the coming of the Lord according to the Old Testament prophets as did Jesus and the other apostles, and they did not teach a pretrib rapture:

2 Peter 3:2 THAT YE MAY BE MINDFUL OF THE WORDS WHICH WERE SPOKEN BEFORE BY THE HOLY PROPHETS, and of the commandment of us the apostles of the Lord and Saviour:

The prophets in this verse refers to the Old Testament prophets. Pretibulationism has injected into the words of God's prophets of old a seven year gap. God's word against changing what had His prophets say was eventually devastating to those people.

What Peter taught THE CHURCH of the coming of Christ and the day of the Lord was out of the description given by the prophets of old and to repeat, that was definitely not pretribulational.

2 THAT YE MAY BE MINDFUL OF THE WORDS WHICH WERE SPOKEN BEFORE BY THE HOLY PROPHETS, and of the commandment of us the apostles of the Lord and Saviour:
3 Knowing this first, that there shall come in the last days scoffers, walking after their own lusts,
4 And saying, Where is the promise of his coming? for since the fathers fell asleep, all things continue as they were from the beginning of the creation.
5 For this they willingly are ignorant of, that by the word of God the heavens were of old, and the earth standing out of the water and in the water:
6 Whereby the world that then was, being overflowed with water, perished:
7 But the heavens and the earth, which are now, by the same word are kept in store, reserved unto fire against the day of judgment and perdition of ungodly men.
8 But, beloved, be not ignorant of this one thing, that one day is with the Lord as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day.
9 The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.
10 But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night; in the which the heavens shall pass away with a great noise, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat, the earth also and the works that are therein shall be burned up.
11 Seeing then that all these things shall be dissolved, what manner of persons ought ye to be in all holy conversation and godliness,
12 Looking for and hasting unto the coming of the day of God, wherein the heavens being on fire shall be dissolved, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat?

Anyone can reference most of these verses back to the Old Testament so I'm not going to take the time to do that.

Think of it this way:

1. In the OT, there were unbelieving Jews and believing Jews
2. Both groups would be dealt with at the end of the age, one with salvation and at the same time one would experience wrath
3. The kingdom was taken from the Jewish leaders of Jesus' times and given to the disciples (Jews)
4. All the promises of the OT still held for both groups
5. The Gentiles were grafted into believing Israel and all of the promises of the Jews were now the Gentile believers also according to the OT prophesies
6. Jesus must now remain in heaven until the final restoration, not come back for a quick trip seven years before that restoration:

Acts 3:21 Whom the heaven must receive until the times of restitution of all things, which God hath spoken by the mouth of all his holy prophets since the world began.

Peter is preaching here to bring people into the church, and what he is promising is that Jesus will return ONCE according to the OT prophets with no seven year quick trip mentioned.
